The Olaria story

Inspired by the specialist workshop, Olaria is where knowledge, precision and skilled hands come together. Periodontics protects the biological foundation. Prosthodontics restores natural form and function. Implant dentistry connects the two.

Secure referrals for dentists, and calm, considered care for patients.

Resolve the problem, communicate clearly and return the patient to their own dentist stable and maintainable.

Three disciplines

Periodontics establishes and protects the biological foundation. Prosthodontics restores natural form, comfort and function. Implant dentistry connects these disciplines through careful planning and clinical coordination.

Periodontics

  • Non-surgical periodontal treatment
  • Surgical management of deep pockets
  • Stabilisation of severe disease
  • Long-term maintenance planning

Prosthodontics

  • Restoring worn & broken-down teeth
  • Crowns, bridges & veneers
  • Full-mouth rehabilitation
  • Denture & implant restorations

Implant dentistry

  • Implant placement & planning
  • Guided & block bone regeneration
  • Sinus lift & augmentation
  • Peri-implantitis management

Periodontal care around orthodontics

Before orthodontics, including treatment with clear aligners, we assess and stabilise periodontal health, strengthen soft tissue where needed and prepare sites for safe tooth movement. After orthodontics, we can manage residual periodontal concerns and help establish healthy, maintainable tissues.

  • Periodontal assessment before braces or clear aligners
  • Soft-tissue grafting before tooth movement where indicated
  • Post-orthodontic periodontal review and treatment
  • Surgical exposure of impacted canines to support orthodontic movement
  • Complex dental extractions where required as part of the plan

Start with the concern

Years of complex, specialist dentistry

For a decade, referrals have ranged from a single word to complex multidisciplinary plans. Every one starts with an assessment, not an admissions test.

For dentists. “Perio” is enough. A few more words would be lovely, but nobody owes us an essay. Tell us what is worrying you, send whatever you have and we will fill in the gaps.

The live form will submit directly to a dedicated clinical referral application with controlled access, audit history, encryption and a signed data-processing agreement. Patient details and radiographs will not be placed in ordinary email. This preview stores nothing.

About Olaria
“Helping people keep teeth they were told they'd lose, and making the difficult decisions feel manageable.”

Olaria is a specialist dental practice bringing periodontics, prosthodontics and implant dentistry together under one roof, led by specialist periodontist Dr Khurrum Hussain and specialist prosthodontist Dr Junaid Saleem Malik.

Specialist expertise here does not operate in isolation. Each discipline contributes to one considered plan, shaped around the individual and delivered with personal care at every stage.

The result is dentistry concerned not only with restoring what can be seen, but with protecting the health, stability and confidence beneath it, today and for the long term.

Dr Khurrum Hussain, specialist periodontist and implant surgeon

Dr Khurrum Hussain is a specialist periodontist and implant surgeon. He completed his European Federation of Periodontology-accredited specialist training in periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, and is on the General Dental Council's Specialist List for Periodontics.

For a decade, he led the periodontal referral pathway at Holly House Dental. He now treats referred patients across the North West, with a clear principle: resolve the specialist problem, communicate well, and return the patient to their own dentist stable and maintainable.

Much of his work is with people who have severe gum disease or failing implants and are finding their condition difficult to manage. His approach combines biological precision with calm, direct explanations so that difficult decisions feel manageable.

He is also a Bond Solon-accredited expert witness and undertakes expert witness work within his field of specialist practice.

He is a clinical teacher on the MSc in periodontology at the University of Manchester and co-runs the Institute of Perio-Prosthodontics (IPP), where he and specialist prosthodontist Dr Junaid Saleem Malik teach dentists advanced periodontal, implant and restorative care.

Outside the surgery, he's been known to take on the London Marathon and Tough Mudder, with mixed results.

Common questions

Before you refer or get in touch.

How much of the treatment can Olaria provide?
As much or as little as you want. Ask for an opinion, a defined procedure, shared care, all periodontal treatment or complete specialist care for a challenging patient. We can stabilise and satisfy the patient, then return them for routine annual checks with you, or share maintenance if that is more appropriate.
Do I need a dentist's referral or a diagnosis to enquire?
No. Patients can contact us directly and describe the concern in their own words. You do not need to know which specialist or treatment you need. We will guide the next step and collect any information required.
What should a dentist send?
Whatever you have. We have built a decade of referral care on notes ranging from a full clinical history to the single word “perio”. A few more words are always appreciated, but an essay is not required. Charts, radiographs and history are helpful when available, never a condition of assessment.
Does bleeding mean I'll lose my teeth?
Not necessarily. Bleeding has several possible causes. Contact us in your own words and we can examine the gums, arrange any records needed and explain the diagnosis and outlook.
Can I request an opinion only?
Yes. You can ask for an opinion only, one part of treatment, shared care or for us to complete everything. If you are unsure, refer the concern and we will help define the scope after assessment.
What if I'm very anxious?
Please say so in your enquiry. The first conversation and appointment can be adapted so that you know what to expect and can ask questions without pressure.
